JSON file does not show question ir order
Hello guys:
I am trying to export the data from Kobo to Google sheet. To do this I am testing the “Api Connector” Addons, which loads the data, but the questions do not appear in the order defined in the questionnaire. At first I thought it was some problem with the Addons, but when I checked the JSON file corresponding to the questionnaire, I realized that the questions (which would later be columns in google sheet) were in a different order.
For example, I have a matrix type question that requires entering the number of tests applied to people by age group and sex, as shown in the attached image. However, as you can see in the JSON file, they (the question) are included in an unordered way, this being the one that the Connector API uses in the end to insert it into googlesheet. (See Matrix question and JSON images)!
Is there any way to garanty that JSON follows the pre-defined question order? And, what could be happening in my case?

2020.09.21 15:34 MaximilianoCobelino An android app for GPS spoofing with HackRF One

Is there an android app for RF GPS spoofing with HackRF One where you can change coordinates in real-time?
As far as I understand there is only one guaranteed method to cheat GPS receivers is the generation of RF signals using software-defined radios (HackRF One, Lime SDR, etc).
Here I found instructions on how to launch the spoofer on the android phone:
You have to generate a file on your computer in advance and then copy it to your phone. You can simulate different motion scenarios in the file. But you can't manipulate coordinates directly on your phone.
It would be cool if the application on my phone would generate data in real-time to control the simulation. It would be a 100% way to deceive any GPS receiver!
Maybe there is already some kind of application? Who knows?

2020.09.21 13:35 blazespinnaker Visual programing/composing/deployment/monitoring

Folks, been playing too much factorio lately and now would like to utilize something analogical in the sense that I can compose software, deploy it, monitor, refactor, create blueprints, zoom in/out.
In particular, for data science applications. Think Azure ML, Quartz Composer, Rabbix Composer, Yahoo Pipes but with really great realtime monitoring. In particular, want something that can be very definable / extensible. Eg, I can define atomic operators of the visual language, hook them up to programs/notebooks I write. The key is something nimble but very powerful.
Deconstructing, refactoring large groupings into pure code as we optimize is key to making this work as obviously this form will cause a lot of technical debt.
Larger, scratch like structural constructions are interesting as well (loop, if, etc, basic operators you'd find in a flowchart). Deployment to kubernetes would be cool, with scaling/load balancing/etc managed.
But most of all, it boggles my mind that something like this doesn't exist for jupytedeep learning.
Any tips on where to look would be great! Cheers

2020.09.21 13:05 montaropdf [KVM] Guest bridged to physical host's NIC, unable to get IP from DHCP on physical network

I want to run a guest OS (Debian 10), on my desktop, in such a way that it get its IP from the DHCP server running in the same network as the desktop. It is necessary for the guest to obtain such IP as I want to install the Unifi Network Controller software on it.
The host (the desktop) is a Librem Mini, from Purism, with the stock PureOS distribution. There is an Ethernet interface and a WiFi interface.
The guest is a debian 10 instance. 2 NICs have been defined, the first one is attached to a classical NATing (which works perfectly). The second one is connected to a bridge providing the access to the network of the host.
NetworkManager is responsible for the network interfaces and connections configuration on both OS.
Researches on the internet leads me to define a bridge, on the host, that will enslave the Ethernet interface and will allow the guest VM to access the network of the host. However, it seems that in the various articles I found, something is missing or I didn't notice an important element to configure the bridge and the KVM guest properly, because the guest cannot get an IP on the second NIC. The connection attempt made by NetworkManager on the second NIC ends with a timeout.
In the following outputs, I have tried to publish as much information about the network configurations as I can find. To avoid too much output, though, I have removed most references to the wireless interface of the host.
To give more context, below is the network topology:
ISP Modem +-------Unifi switch US-8----Unifi AP AC Lite +--Desktop--[debian10]
The ISP Modem is also the routefirewall/DHCP server for the network.
Any help to resolve this issue will be much appreciated. Do not hesitate to ask for more data if necessary.

Tier I (or Level 1, abbreviated as T1 or L1) is the initial support level responsible for basic customer issues. It is synonymous with first-line support, level 1 support, front-end support, support line 1, and various other headings denoting basic level technical support functions.[citation needed] The first job of a Tier I specialist is to gather the customer's information and to determine the customer's issue by analyzing the symptoms and figuring out the underlying problem.[6] When analyzing the symptoms, it is important for the technician to identify what the customer is trying to accomplish so that time is not wasted on "AOLempting to solve a symptom instead of a problem." [6]
This level should gather as much information as possible from the end user. The information could be computer system name, screen name or report name, error or warning message displayed on the screen, any logs files, screen shots, any data used by the end user or any sequence of steps used by the end user, etc. This information needs to be recorded into the issue tracking or issue logging system. This information is useful to analyze the symptoms to define the problem or issue.[citation needed]
Once identification of the underlying problem is established, the specialist can begin sorting through the possible solutions available. Technical support specialists in this group typically handle straightforward and simple problems while "possibly using some kind of knowledge management tool."[7] This includes troubleshooting methods such as verifying physical layer issues, resolving username and password problems, uninstalling/reinstalling basic software applications, verification of proper hardware and software set up, and assistance with navigating around application menus. Personnel at this level have a basic to general understanding of the product or service and may not always contain the competency required for solving complex issues.[8] Nevertheless, the goal for this group is to handle 70–80% of the user problems before finding it necessary to escalate the issue to a higher level.[8]
In other industries (such as banking, credit cards, mobile telephony, etc.), first-level support is carried by a call center that operates extensive hours (or 24/7). This call center acts as an "initial sink" for user requests and, if required, creates an incident to notify other business teams/units to satisfy the user request (for example, blocking stolen credit cards or mobile phones from use).[citation needed] In some industries,[which?] first-line support requires knowledge of the products, terms and conditions offered by the business rather than technical information itself (Retail / Wholesale). Most ISPs only offer tier 1 support.[
Technical support (often shortened to tech support) refers to services that entities provide to users of technology products or services. In general, technical support provide help regarding specific problems with a product or service, rather than providing training, provision or customization of product, or other support services. Most companies offer technical support for the services or products they sell, either included in the cost or for an additional fee. Technical support may be delivered over by phone, e-mail, live support software on a website, or other tool where users can log an incident. Larger organizations frequently have internal technical support available to their staff for computer-related problems. The Internet can also be a good source for freely available tech support, where experienced users help users find solutions to their problems.[not verified in body] In addition, some fee-based service companies charge for premium technical support services.[1]\\

Technical support may be delivered by different technologies depending on the situation. For example, direct questions can be addressed using telephone calls, SMS, Online chat, Support Forums, E-mail or Fax; basic software problems can be addressed over the telephone or, increasingly, by using remote access repair services; while more complicated problems with hardware may need to be dealt with in person.

This type of technical support has been very common in the services industry.[citation needed] It is also known as "Time and Materials" (T&M) IT support.[citation needed] The customer pays for the materials (hard drive, memory, computer, digital devices, etc.) and also pays the technician based on the pre-negotiated rate when a problem occurs.[citation needed]

Block hours allow the client to purchase a number of hours upfront at an agreed price. While it is commonly used to offer a reduced hourly rate, it can also simply be a standard non-reduced rate, or represent a minimum fee charged to a client before providing service.[original research?] The premise behind this type of support is that the customer has purchased a fixed number of hours to use either per month or year. This allows them the flexibility to use the hours as they please without doing the paperwork and the hassle of paying multiple bills.[citation needed]

Managed services means a company will receive a list of well-defined services on an ongoing basis, with well-defined "response and resolution times" for a fixed rate or a flat fee. This can include things like 24/7 monitoring of servers, 24/7 help desk support for daily computer issues, and on-site visits by a technician when issues cannot be resolved remotely.[citation needed] Some companies also offer additional services like project management, backup and disaster recovery, and vendor management in the monthly price. The companies that offer this type of tech support are known as managed services providers.

Many companies and organizations provide discussion boards for users of their products to interact; such forums allow companies to reduce their support costs[2] without losing the benefit of customer feedback.

Almost all tech brands and service providers give free access to a rich library of technical support solutions to users. These are huge databases of step-by-step solutions, however if you visit the support sites for big brands the solutions are more often for their products alone. Another method of getting technical support that's gained popularity is to follow troubleshooting steps shown in a support video.

With the increasing use of technology in modern times, there is a growing requirement to provide technical support. Many organizations locate their technical support departments or call centers in countries or regions with lower costs. Dell was amongst the first companies to outsource their technical support and customer service departments to India in 2001.[3] There has also been a growth in companies specializing in providing technical support to other organizations. These are often referred to as MSPs (Managed Service Providers).[4]

For businesses needing to provide technical support, outsourcing allows them to maintain a high availability of service. Such need may result from peaks in call volumes during the day, periods of high activity due to introduction of new products or maintenance service packs, or the requirement to provide customers with a high level of service at a low cost to the business. For businesses needing technical support assets, outsourcing enables their core employees to focus more on their work in order to maintain productivity.[5] It also enables them to utilize specialized personnel whose technical knowledge base and experience may exceed the scope of the business, thus providing a higher level of technical support to their employees.

Technical support is often subdivided into tiers, or levels, in order to better serve a business or customer base. The number of levels a business uses to organize their technical support group is dependent on a business' needs regarding their ability to sufficiently serve their customers or users. The reason for providing a multi-tiered support system instead of one general support group is to provide the best possible service in the most efficient possible manner. Success of the organizational structure is dependent on the technicians' understanding of their level of responsibility and commitments, their customer response time commitments, and when to appropriately escalate an issue and to which level.[6] A common support structure revolves around a three-tiered technical support system.

2020.09.21 11:21 frikuser [University Level: C Language] Problem on structures

My teacher gave me this problem to solve without actually every teaching us struct in C.
Define a structure data type TRAIN_INFO. The type contain Train No.: integer type Train name: string Departure Time: aggregate type TIME Arrival Time: aggregate type TIME Start station: string End station: string The structure type Time contains two integer members: hour and minute. Maintain a train timetable and implement the following operations:
a) List all the trains (sorted according to train number) that depart from a particular section.
b) List all the trains that depart from a particular station at a particular time.
c) List all he trains that depart from a particular station within the next one hour of a given time.
d) List all the trains between a pair of start station and end station.
Now, I knew a little bit about struct (learnt on my own) so I made this structure.
int train_no;
char train_name[50];
agg departure;
char startstation[50];
char endstation[50];
but I don't know how to proceed further. Can someone help me in this program? This ques do not even specify from where we have to take input and all. If someone with proper knowledge could help me solve it, that'd be awesome.
Thank you

2020.09.21 10:45 UnoDeaj05 Need help with a polling function for an arduino based eeprom programmer

Hey all,
So a couple of you may know who Ben Eater is, for those who don't he makes youtube videos about building computers on breadboards and goes into great detail about how it all works. I decided to take the plunge and buy a whole heap of components and make my own computer.
Long story short I ended up making an eeprom programmer similar to that of Ben Eaters, with a few modifications. The difference is the one I am trying to make will be more comprehensive in that it will also contain a polling function and a page write function. I haven't started the page write function yet as my focus has been to try to write the polling function so I can further refine the byteWrite function (originally it had a 10 ms delay for performing a read right after when the data sheet suggests it can be much lower). The problem comes in with the actual polling function, when I try to use that for timing everything just goes haywire and I have no clue why. I have had problems from the timing being off and performing an incorrect read, to getting stuck in loops, to nothing happening at all and I'm at a loss as to what it could be.
I also have a few other questions as to why certain things make the write function work. I've commented them in the appropriate lines of code. Happy to go into further detail if required.
Hardware wise everything is working just fine, I've got the address going to two 8 bit shift registers and everything else being controlled by the arduino nano itself.
Here is the datasheet for the eeprom I'm working with:
Here is the code:
#define ADDR 2 #define CLK 3 #define LATCH 4 #define WE 5 #define IO0 13 #define IO7 6 byte IO = 0; int addr = 0; void setup() { // put your setup code here, to run once: pinMode(ADDR, OUTPUT); pinMode(CLK, OUTPUT); pinMode(LATCH, OUTPUT); digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); pinMode(WE, OUTPUT); pinMode(LED_BUILTIN, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(57600); writeData(0, 3); Serial.println(IO); // SIMPLE DISPLAY FUNCTION FOR SERIAL MONITOR for (int base = 0; base <= 255; base += 16) { byte data[16]; for (int offset = 0; offset <= 15; offset += 1) { data[offset] = readData(base + offset); } char buf[80]; sprintf(buf, "%03x: %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x", base, data[0], data[1], data[2], data[3], data[4], data[5], data[6], data[7], data[8], data[9], data[10], data[11], data[12], data[13], data[14], data[15]); Serial.println(buf); } } void loop() { // put your main code here, to run repeatedly: digitalWrite(LED_BUILTIN, HIGH); delay(500); digitalWrite(LED_BUILTIN, LOW); delay(500); } void setAddress(int address, boolean OE) { // PUSHES ADDRESS TO SHIFT REGISTERS addr = address; shiftOut(ADDR, CLK, MSBFIRST, (address >> 8) (OE ? 0x00 : 0x80)); shiftOut(ADDR, CLK, MSBFIRST, address); } void setPinMode(String mode) { // ALLOWS ME TO CHANGE PINMODES WITH A FUNCTION if(mode.equals("INPUT")) { for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7 ; i--) { pinMode(i, INPUT); } } else if(mode.equals("OUTPUT")) { for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7; i--) { pinMode(i, OUTPUT); } } else { Serial.println("PinMode set at invalid state"); } } void poll(byte data) { // THIS IS THE FUNCTION IN QUESTION setPinMode("INPUT"); setAddress(addr, true); latch(); while(true) { if(digitalRead(6) == data) { break; } } } byte readData(int address) { // READS THE DATA AND RETURNS A BYTE byte data = 0; digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); setPinMode("INPUT"); setAddress(address, true); latch(); for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7; i--) { data = (data << 1) + digitalRead(i); } return data; } void writeData(int address, byte data) { //WRITES THE DATA. ALSO HAVE QUESTIONS HERE IO = data; setAddress(address, false); latch(); setPinMode("OUTPUT"); for(int i = IO7; i <= IO0; i++) { digitalWrite(i, data & 1); // UNSURE AS TO WHY BITWISE 'AND' FIXES THIS FUNCTION data = data >> 1; } digitalWrite(WE, LOW); delayMicroseconds(1); // NEED TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THIS DELAY DOWN TO A MINIMUM OF 100 NANOSECONDS. digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); delayMicroseconds(1); poll(IO); //delay(10); // NEED TO FIGURE OUT AS TO WHY THIS TIMER NEEDS TO BE 10 MILISECONDS IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS FUNCTION WORK. } void latch() { // LATCHES OUTPUT FOR SHIFT REGISTERS digitalWrite(LATCH, LOW); digitalWrite(LATCH, HIGH); digitalWrite(LATCH, LOW); }

2020.09.21 10:10 Inquisitive_Kitmouse How should I implement the International Phonetic Alphabet in a program?

I'm trying to represent the International Phonetic Alphabet and common phonological changes programmatically. I'd like to use Python, but I'm happy to use another tool.
Most of what I intend to do is modelling language evolution, something like: "for a given string of IPA characters (word, morpheme, etc.), find a consonant between any two vowels and, if it is unvoiced, make it voiced; otherwise, elide (delete) it and merge the vowels into a dipthong." To my mind, this can be done with operations on a list of IPA chars (themselves maybe a custom-built class) and lookups on some kind of table-like structure (hash table?). One might be able to implement common changes in the data structure itself, i.e. lenition (softening/weakening of a sound) could just be a pointer from a given symbol to its lenition counterpart (t -> d, for example). I have no idea if this is actually a good idea, just a thought.
As an example, a consonant in the IPA has 4 features that can be used to describe the character in the basic IPA chart: airstream mechanism, place of articulation, manner of articulation, and voicing. You can get a bit nuts with further subtle details, but these are the primary distinctions that define any given consonant in any given language. Here's the full table as an example:
I tried using a dict with 4-length tuples to store each character for lookup, but it feels... kinda ugly to me.
What do you all think? Given the data and the use-case, where should I start?

2020.09.21 09:23 Red-Eyed_Fairace SoD2 - Unreal Engine 4 - And You / A Performance Guide/Information Tab

SoD2 - Unreal Engine 4 - And You / A Performance Guide/Information Tab
State of Decay 2 is built in Unreal Engine 4. UE4 is a very flexible engine which allows changing many settings outside the game--even those which don't appear in the in-game options menu.
UE4 settings for State of Decay 2 (MS Store) are stored in a series of .ini files located at: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Dayton_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Note: -For other store versions - Kindly check google for it. -%LocalAppData% refers to YourUserName\AppData\Local -If you have MS Store version, you can copy that whole code and past it on the search bar on windows start like this:
First Part: -RESOLUTION --SoD2 by default will use your current display resolution, so if you have a laptop with a 1366x768 (like mine) it will default to that, BUT you can actually set the resolution lower to maximize your FPS. --Inside the file GameUserSettings.ini contains the following code: LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=640 LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=480 DesiredScreenWidth=640 DesiredScreenHeight=480 ResolutionSizeX=640 ResolutionSizeY=480
Change the value to your desire RESOLUTION, PLS READ NOTE FOR OTHER INFO
NOTE: -640x480 is the LOWEST POSSIBLE RESOLUTION that you can play the game WHILE STILL being able TO READ the letters/words. -When editing GameUserSettings.ini ,make sure to set it as READ ONLY after you edited it. -when SETTING CUSTOM RESOLUTION, ALWAYS USE A 4:3 ASPECT RATIO --REASON: When setting the resolution to something that your display driver not officially supported even if you have a 16:9 ratio, a bug ingame will appear, your mouse pointer will not be accurate --A sample custom resolution is 1152x 648 which is a true 16:9 ratio. -RESOLUTION NOT BEING READ BY GAME - HERE'S THE FIX: If you start the game after you edit the files to set your resolution, do the following, Once on the MENU click SETTINGS then VIDEO BUT DONT CHANGE ANYTHING then click ADVANCE VIDEO. A pop-up msg will appear asking you to save settings or discard. CLICK DISCARD, It should now read your ini and set the resolution to the one you edited.
Second Part: -ScalabilityGroups --UE4 uses ScalabilityGroups as an overall selectable settings. you can found this on GameUserSettings.ini. The values are 0 = LOW, 1 = MEDIUM, 2 = HIGH, 3 = ULTRA
-By game default, the game uses 87 on Resolution Quality, setting it to 80 is still okay and the game still look okay. -if you want shadows, keep it at 1, if not 0. -If you want gras, set foliage to 1, if not 0. -Never set view distance to 0. either 1 or 2, while 1 will give you some fps, it will introduce some object suddenly flashing. 1 is a good value. This settings control the OVERALL, if you want to maximize performance while keeping shadow, you can change it to like mine. Third Part: -Individual Scalability -Individual Scalability refers to the settings per scalability tag. this are sg.texturequalty, sq.ShadowQuality, sg.etc. -Editing them individually requires you to edit Scalability.ini file, By default, this file would be EMPTY, now let's get started:
--ShadowQuality If you want to play with shadows ON but still want some performance, you can reduce the resolution of the shadows, to do that, add this to Scalability.ini
[email protected] the number after the @ should ALWAYS match the number of your ScalabilityGroup, on my GameUserSettings.ini, mine set as =1 so here, I put it as [email protected]
r.ShadowQuality - 0 = OFF, 1 = LOW (Unfiltered), 2 = Low, 3 = Medium, 4 = High WARNING: DONT SET THIS to 1, setting this to 1 will make the shadows box, THIS WILL HURT YOUR EYE, YOU'VE been warned. r.Shadow.PerObject = allows PER OBJECT shadow, does the game support that, I dont really know but I prefer performance so I set it 0. r.Shadow.PreShadows = Whether to allow preshadows (static world casting on character) r.AllowLandscapeShadows = To allow landscape shadow, I dont know if this fully works but I keep it 0. r.Shadow.MaxResolution = SETS the shadow resolution, the lower the more FPS you get but the shadows get uglier, I like 256, lower than that, the shadows flicker too much, epilepsy warning. r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution = same as above. r.SimpleDynamicLighting = Whether to use simple dynamic lighting, which just renders an unshadowed dynamic directional light and a skylight. (More FPS if set to 1)
OTHER Shadow settings are self-explanation, if you dont get them here's the link for a thousand list of Unreal Engine 4 Console Variables and Commands:
NOTE: Let the page load first before you do a ctrl+F, it usually hangs due to the fact there's about 2500+ codes there. If you dont trust the site, search google for this: Unreal Engine 4 Console Variables and Commands.
--TextureQuality -Handles the Textures
MaxAnisotropy = MaxAnisotropy should range from 1 to 16. Higher values mean better texure quality when using anisotropic filtering but at a cost to performance. r.Streaming.PoolSize = -1: Default texture pool size, otherwise the size in MB, I set mine to 1500MB so because I got a 2gb vcard, so 1500 is forced to set to the game when Im playing. (Or that's how I understand it)
--PostProccessQuality -Handles the anything related to postprocces such as motion blu, etc
r.MotionBlurQuality = Defines the motion blur method which allows to adjust for quality or performance. 0:off, 1:low, 2:medium, 3:high (default), 4: very high r.LensFlareQuality = Lens flares, 0 for off. r.LightShafts = Whether light shafts are allowed to be rendered, defaults to 1. r.LightShaftQuality = Defines the light shaft quality. 0 is off. r.LightShaftBlurPasses = Number of light shaft blur passes. r.LightFunctionQuality = Defines the light function quality which allows to adjust for quality or performance. r.BlurGBuffer = cant remember thiso ne but it's related to motion blur. r.AmbientOcclusionRadiusScale = Allows to scale the ambient occlusion radius (SSAO). r.RenderTargetPoolMin = If the render target pool size (in MB) is below this number there is no deallocation of rendertargetsDefault is 200 MB. r.PostProcessAAQuality = efines the postprocess anti aliasing method which allows to adjust for quality or performance. 0:off, 1:very low (faster FXAA), 2:low (FXAA), 3:medium (faster TemporalAA), 4:high (default TemporalAA), 5:very high, 6:max r.TonemapperQuality = 0: low (minor performance benefit) 1: high (default, with high frequency pixel pattern to fight 8 bit color quantization)
--EffectsQuality -Anything related to effects.
r.DepthOfFieldQuality = Allows to adjust the depth of field quality. Currently only fully affects BokehDOF. GaussianDOF is either 0 for off, otherwise on. 0: Off r.RefractionQuality = Defines the distorion/refraction quality which allows to adjust for quality or performance. <=0: off (fastest) r.SceneColorFringeQuality = 0: off but best for performance r.SeparateTranslucency = Allows to disable the separate translucency feature r.SkyLightingQuality = Defines the sky lighting quality which allows to adjust for performance. r.ParticleLightQuality = 0: No lights. 1:Only simple lights. 2:Simple+HQ lights r.MobileHDR = 0: Mobile renders in LDR gamma space. (suggested for unlit games targeting low-end phones) r.Atmosphere = Defines atmosphere will render or not. r.Fog = Defines fog will render or not. (If lower display resolution, turn off, because it's ugly on lower) r.FogDensity = Allows to override the FogDensity setting (needs ExponentialFog in the level). Using a strong value allows to quickly see which pixel are affected by fog. Using a start distance allows to cull pixels are can speed up rendering. r.SSR.Quality = Whether to use screen space reflections and at what quality setting. r.MaterialQualityLevel = 0 corresponds to low quality materials, as defined by quality switches in materials, 1 corresponds to high. r.ReflectionEnvironment = 0:off, 1:on and blend with scene, 2:on and overwrite scene. Whether to render the reflection environment feature, which implements local reflections through Reflection Capture actors. r.EyeAdaptationQuality = Defines the eye adaptation quality which allows to adjust for quality or performance. r.ParticleLODBias = LOD bias for particle systems. Development feature, default is 0. Higher is less, Negative value is sharper, more detail.
r.LandscapeLODBias = LOD bias for landscape/terrain meshes. Doesnt Affect textures of the Landscape, only its mesh. See image below
r.LandscapeLODBias = 10, see how the ground is above the road
r.LandscapeLODBias = 10 and r.Shadow.MaxResolution = 256, I have no legs
r.MipMapLODBias = Overall Level of Detail (LOD), controls the mesh the the Texture. values are -15 to 15, setting this to 15 will turn the game into similar to Unturned. See image.
r.MipMapLODBias = 15, r.Shadow.MaxResolution = 256 , 1366x768
r.StaticMeshLodDistanceScale = Scale factor for the distance used in computing discrete LOD for static meshes. r.SkeletalMeshLODBias = LOD bias for skeletal meshes, -1 is default, 0 is lower, positive higher number = lower character mesh. see image:
r.SkeletalMeshLODBias = 10, just look at that face, it'll give you nightmares
r.ViewDistanceScale = Controls the view distance scale. A primitive's MaxDrawDistance is scaled by this value. Higher values will increase view distance but at a performance cost. Default is 1. r.Upscale.Quality = 0: Nearest filtering 1: Simple Bilinear 2: 4 tap bilinear 3: Directional blur with unsharp mask upsample. (default)
--FoliageQuality -Handles the Foliage like grass
NOTES, NOTES, NOTES: -When manually setting the individual scalablity, make sure that the NUMBER after @ matches the number inside GameUserSettings.ini ScalabilityGroups. -For other TWEAKS, look for Unreal Engine 4 Console Variables and Commands which is this link: If you dont trust the site, feel free to search google, but as far as Im concern, this is the best one and contains about 2500+ console variables and commands. -You can combine everything into a single scalability and as I know, it should work just fine but it is always best to categorize them just like above.
Forth Part: -Game Engine Defaults. --Forces the game engine to turn off certain settings by default --Other settings that the scalability and GameUserSettings doesnt cover. --For this, you need to edit the file: Engine.ini
By default, SystemSettings does not exist on Engine.ini, you have to create it. r.VirtualTexture = If set to 1, textures will use virtual memory so they can be partially resident. If you have SSD like I have, this will increase the wearout (by a small margine) but will decrease texture loading time. r.DontLimitOnBattery = 0: Limit performance on devices with a battery.(default) 1: Do not limit performance due to device having a battery.
The next ones are r.DefaultFeature, which basically sets the engine default such as Anti-Aliasing, Bloom, LensFlare, MotionBlur, AutoExposure, etc. Most of them are self-explanatory but here it is anyway. 0 = OFF, 1 = On r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusion = Engine default (project setting) for AmbientOcclusion is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override)0: off, sets AmbientOcclusionIntensity to 0. 1: on (default) r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusionStaticFraction = Engine default (project setting) for AmbientOcclusion is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override) 0: off, sets AmbientOcclusionStaticFraction to 0. 1: on (default, costs extra pass, only useful if there is some baked lighting) r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing = Engine default (project setting) for AntiAliasingMethod is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override) 0: off (no anti-aliasing), 1: FXAA (faster than TemporalAA but much more shimmering for non static cases), 2: TemporalAA (default) r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure = Engine default (project setting) for AutoExposure is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override), 0: off, sets AutoExposureMinBrightness and AutoExposureMaxBrightness to 1, 1: on (default) r.DefaultFeature.Bloom = Engine default (project setting) for Bloom is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override), 0: off, set BloomIntensity to 0, 1: on (default) r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare = Engine default (project setting) for LensFlare is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override), 0: off, sets LensFlareIntensity to 0, 1: on (default) r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur = Engine default (project setting) for MotionBlur is (postprocess volume/camera/game setting still can override), 0: off, sets MotionBlurAmount to 0, 1: on (default) r.RayTracing = Controls ray tracing, I dont know if the game supports it on its current UE4 version. r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization = 0: low (minor performance benefit), 1: high (default, with high frequency pixel pattern to fight 8 bit color quantization) r.Tonemapper.Quality = Defines the Tonemapper Quality in the range 0..5, Depending on the used settings we might pick a faster shader permutation. 0: basic tonemapper only, lowest quality,1: + FilmContrast, 2: + Vignette, 3: + FilmShadowTintAmount, 4: + Grain, 5: + GrainJitter = full quality (default)
The others that are added on my SystemSettings are basically just me testing them. FINAL NOTE: Always set the file to READ ONLY.
Some screenies: All of my settings above except the resolution, which is set to 1366x768. FPS = 33 to 58
All settings above except 640x480 fullscreen resolution. Also, on nvidea settings, image sharpening is set to 0.5 and ignorefilmgrain set to 1. FPS = 48 to 70.
Final Final Note: I grew up on an intel hd, so Im not really bothered by the lower resolution, right now, im using the laptop that I used when I was in college, which have a i7-6500u, 12gb ram, 930mx 2gb and an Samsung Evo 850 SSD. on other games, it can run okay, but for ue4, this can be considered as low end. So if you have the same or somewhat better, you can tweak it using the above method to maximize your FPS, THIS should work on ANY UE4 Games, unless the game devs blocks them like PUBG. (Because it's cheating if you can remove the grass for example.)
Here's my Engine/GameUserSettings/Scalability.ini files that you can use as a basis: mediafire(Dot)com/file/sbqt1hkq78hkugu

2020.09.21 08:31 themoodygod I'm looking for a project management tool to replace G-Sheet, more details in post.

I'm looking for a project management tool to replace the main G-Sheet that has served us well over the years but lacks one key feature that we need. Simultaneous filter by multiple users.
We have ~500 rows of data about distinct products. Each of the product falls under different categories ( there 5 categories) that is defined by a column. Each category is assigned to a person in our team, and they have to work on it and then update the status of the product ( completed, ongoing, problem etc) in a column, with comments in another.
In the day to day process, this gets difficult because everyone wants to put their own category filter and work through that. A workaround we had implemented recently, was to have multiple sheets of individual categories where they update their status/comments, and end of every day, I would v-lookup. This is not ideal because I have made errors while updating, and it also takes time to do the lookup manually.
Another issue is that, because of the lookup, I'm not able to use the "show edit history" feature of G-sheet for comments ( which is important to know the history of the product).
So the key problem is to have edit history/comment history AND to have multiple user work on it simultaneously.
Most of the project management tool I could look up online have the kanban board type approach where you have cards that move from shelf to shelf as they progress. I was hoping some other alternative as it will be a lot of time before I can create 500 cards. Moreover, all this process is repetative, every month or so, so I need to move evrything back to "not started state start of every month, which is very easy to do in G-Sheet as you can imagine.
Any tool/software that comes in mind?

Sorry for my bad english. Thanks,

2020.09.21 08:28 mixAlottaFagina 5 Proposed Major Constitutional Reforms For The United States - Concerning Federalism, Elections and Political Economics

Of course, there are thousands of proposed reforms to governance in the United States. Some are obviously completely radical. Others are technical.
I like to think about reforms which don't seek to address specific technical problems, nor favor a novel conception of the United States (such as it becoming a unitary parlimentary democracy). These reforms would be radical, they would answer or resolve questions left unresolved at the time of drafting the Constitution. They would do so in light of what experience has taught, but stay in line with the "20th century" consensus on the meaning of US federalism.
Here are five rather radical reforms I've thought up. Just fodder for discussion.
  1. A new system for electing the President, with reforms to deemphasize the political importance of the job. This is paired with reforms to how representatives are selected, again, to shift issues debates away from presidential politics.
  2. An administrative concept of government that is constitutionally separated from core roles of state.
  3. Redefining the role of the upper house to restore the concept of a leading citizens assembly, but with changes to its purpose in light of modern democratic norms.
  4. A new federalism, which ultimately would rearrange state boundaries and clarify relationships.
  5. A reform on the concept of the 14th amendment, so that groups of states which seek to combine resources to cooperate on policy can do so without forcing states who do not wish to be involved to join in.

Presidential & Electoral Reform

Problem: The presidential election has become the quadrennial referendum on the democratic will. That's what was meant for it, and it's not a good vehicle for this.
Solution: Create more room for expression of democratic will in the House of Representatives electoral process. Change presidential elections to be more procedural. Change the role of the president.
Historical context: The original concept of American government was one in which democratic townships and/or republican yeoman land owners manage the affairs of society through law, political equality, democracy and the principles of the enlightenment. Such a society would not need the trappings of foreign states, which exist to protect aristocratic structures and prerogatives of kings. Which fight over land which can be taxed to fund great palaces etc. The goal was to create a minimalist structure which resembled a European state, so that the US could have relations with European states, while internally pursuing a different model. The president was meant to be little more than the head officer of this minimalist, outward-facing ediface. Later, "outward" included "the interior" as the US expanded West, obtained colonies, and so forth. Also, as federalism increased in the US, this original concept has little leftover meaning.
Discussion: Parliamentary democracies usually don't have presidents. Those which do see the bizarrely irrelevant role of "head of state" sidelined by a powerful prime minister role. It doesn't make sense to take all the power of government and put it in the hands of one person, then make that one person the object of intense, confusing elections every four years.
Even if electoral college reform occured and the popular vote selected this person, that still makes little sense as a good system. It would only create a national "first past the post" problem. That is, it gives far too much power to 51%, leading to a very disappointed 49%. A presidency that did that, would be harmful to democratic goodwill.
So, to solve the presidential problem, first we have to go down to Congress and address the first past the post problem in congressional district elections. You have a Congress that's half red and half blue, but really most places are kind of purple. And forget about being a minority political view.
I think America needs to just accept a proportionality system. I don't know that local representation matters as much in such an interconnected world, and the country is also too big for anyone to have a meaningful relationship to their "representative" in Congress. If one political party started to harm a certain region with their policies, that region may simply take their existing politics into a new compromise party. An example of this is the Scottish Nationalist Party in the British Parliament, which, I believe, would otherwise be Labour representatives.
Now political views are represented well without first-past-the-post manic politics.
The president can now be elected in a less existing, more procedural way. Akin to the intent of the electoral college, but without the politics which force campaigning to revolve around key swing states.
I would have either the new House, the new Senate, or a new body called the college of state representatives (each state government appoints representatives, and a quorum of sufficient size can open this body and pass resolutions) will have to nominate Presidential candidates. The bar will be low, maybe 10% of votes in any body.
You now end up with a pool of nominees. I suppose, a maximum of 30. A majority vote - after run offs (thus forcing a majority outcome) - produces that house's choice. If 2 of 3 houses agree, the person is selected. If 3 houses have 3 choices, anyone with a supermajority from within their house is selected. If the college of state representatives isn't active, or if multiple, disagreeing supermajorities occur, then an electoral college must be held. Delegates from each group who sponsored a nomination (10% of congresspeople in the house, for example) are sent. They have successive run-offs until a simple majority is reached.
The purpose here is to protect from one faction controlling the outcome by allowing many paths to selection, while also forcing consensus so there aren't hung elections. The principle is "just pick somebody", and the outcome of such a principle would be very boring, reliable, centrist figures. Also, the political establishment picks this person.
After the selection is made, there's a national referendum as a check against the establishment. If a supermajority votes no, then a full electoral college is held. Similar structure: 1/3 states, 1/3 from Senate, 1/3 from proportial parties congress. Except now a unique vote is held for each category. You select your party preference to determine party delegates, and the count will not reflect or affect the current composition of Congress. This is just for presidential election. A similar pinciple with the other two bodies. The full college votes, majority wins. Move on.
The full electoral college would politicize the job of president, so it's the least ideal way to select the person. However, popular dissatisfaction with the conventional process has to allow for this.
Because this process could potentially drag on, presidential "selections" will occur in the 2 years before and after inauguration. Hopefully, with the presidency de-politicized to a degree, lame duck status won't matter as much. Moreover, there will be more time for transitions which really ought to be smooth affairs.
America has a great tradition of presidential transitions, notably from Adams to Jefferson. But the structural stakes involved at the time aren't relevant anymore. The civil war settled the existential political questions at stake during this transition.

An "Administrative" Branch of Government

Problem: Modern states interact with society, spend resources and create value. Whether we like it or not. Congress creates federal programs in the US, their prerogative given interpretations of the elastic clause and their power of the purse. However, the President is left managing them.
Solution: Simply, the administrative activities of government, where not requiring special legal powers and privileges, should exist in a governance channel separated from the presidency. A branch separated from the executive. It should also be separate from Congress, who might create and fund programs to reflect democratic will, but shouldn't then use those programs in corrupt ways for money and power.
Historical context: America was founded as a government which is both administrative and non-administrative. Some founders did think that the federal government would stick to clear, enumerated powers. It would be that minimalist ediface to relate to foreign states, but inwardly it would have almost no role. However, other founders completely disagreed. The language that made it into the constitution was chosen so that both sides felt the could win. Thus, the elastic clause technically implies an intended limited government, but then it also allows for a more expansive government. That's not a bug, it's a feature. It gave both sides what they wanted, which is why they ratified it. The reality is that today we have administrative government. No one's reversing that, and America was never a purely minimalist state - even if the intent of some people was for it to be.
This reform is simple. Take every function of government that doesn't require a badge or gun (that is, just funding), and remove it from the Oval Office chain of command. Congress can direct the US Treasury - an executive branch frunction - to fund these organizations. Congress can direct the US Department of Justice to enforce rules where there are legal controversies (protecting civil rights, equal access, etc.) However, the "added value" and functioning of bureaucracies will be separate from the President's chain of command.
This is a bit complicated. FAA enforces flight rules, so it's an executive branch function. But, it might use National Weather Service data in its procedures. Air Traffic Control must be FAA because what they say when represent data relevant to a legal proceding where FAA is brining violators to court - so to speak. But weather data?
There might be times when the executive branch "doubles up" services of the administrative branch. So, there might be a National Weather Service and an FAA weather advisory. But, the best way to do this is to use military administration to provide the double up services. The President might not want to be at the mercy of what some adminstrator he doesn't control believes is the best use of resources or not. The military is a good place for the President to double up some services. Even so, the military has a particular purpose and needs (secrecy needs, and also safety isn't always a military priority). So you could still have a civilian/admin weather service, a military weather service, and a FAA weather service. Oh well. This is the sort of issue civilized countries spend time trying to figure out.
The administrative branch would be a function of government, so it would be using the national treasury through Congress's funding power, and power of the executive branch to compel taxation. Thus, the money spent for admin branch functions still has to follow the rules of equal opportunity, civil rights and so forth. In this sense, the admin branch can't be Congress's privately funded slush businesses.
It would need management who are separate from Congress (which makes this very unlike a parliamentary system). So I propose administrative heads are elected directly. Maybe Congress can nominate them, but a national vote much like the current presidential election. Maybe a few posts are elected every year, and there are multi-year terms, so it takes a few years to have voted for each position. Something like, "Head of NIH", "Head of Human Services". This way, the issues at stake are very narrow and the democratic will is captured much more directly. This also de-politicizes the presidency even more.

Fixing The Senate

Problem: the purpose of the senate is unclear. Direct election of senators means seats can sometimes be won with big money. It's less representative. The terms are longer so unpopular people last longer. There are fewer Senators in their house, so each has much more power than a representative. It just seems like an awful institution. The one thing it sometimes does is check the House during a populist revolt that doesn't last past 2 years, and sometimes check the President by representing other corrupt interests than those who support him.
Solution: Change how the Senate is elected, considering the original idea of the Senate as an assembly of leading citizens. Change the role of the Senate, so that it's less-democratic-than-the-House problems are mitigated by having it serve a different role that more suited for the concept. I favor something like elected philosophers.
Historical Context: Why is there an upper house in democratic politics? It seems almost always to be a vestige of the past. However, in choosing to include a Senate, US founders (John Adams) said that every society has its leading citizens. In a certain sense, in spite of democracy, this is true. Society is a network, and certain people have a lot of influence. One might say that "influencers" play a more important role in the structure and direction of society than either the government or democracy. Having an upper house is meant to acknowledge this reality and use it to strengthen and stabilize government.
I have doubts about this theory. I find it problematic to suggest that there is a single group of people out there driving the whole direction of the country.
However, you can say that there are "opinion leaders". These often take the crass form of what you might call "political celebrities". Senators or governors that the "man on the street" might even have heard of.
Having people like this in politics might be useful.
  1. They can channel political consciousness, becoming receptors or focal points for different views.
  2. They can create a new consensus by advocating new ideas or commenting on new problems.
  3. They can be free of the faction fighting present in parliamentary politics, which can be quite idiosyncratic. They can be "one step removed" from day-to-day politics.
  4. In the above three roles, they can exercise power over constitutionality issues - not that they'd be the best, but are unelected judges any better?
For their election, I propose a nationwide vote. This will use a voting system that is proportional, including automatic, discounted run-off selection.
The "concept" of the election is that each Senator represents "the national district". That is, the whole nation. But, there are 50 national districts (they overlap).
Every year, on 5 year cycles, every citizen votes in each of 10 elections for 10 of the national districts. You are a member of all of them, because they overlap. In other words, you write down a list of ten people.
These lists will be debated online, gamed like fantasy football or NCAA charts. More conventionally, advocacy groups and political parties can mail out lists. This list idea is very interesting and novel in contemporary systems, but I believe it would work very well in generating buzz about the sort of philosophical state of American consitutionality. This is where the really tough issues get debated, civil rights, abortion, gay marriage. In other words, the senate will become the object of the debates which often now occur over Supreme Court nominations.
People can express where they stand on these issues via their 10-name list.
The counting process is interesting. The name who gets the most votes become the first senator. But now, everyone who wrote that name will see the rest of their votes discounted by 10%.
That is, this is like having a proportional election in each of the 10 districts. But since only one person can win, you allow the people who aren't represented up front to have more influence towards the final districts.
Ideally, the latter winners aren't purely radical, but they are much more compromise winners, since they may have been listed on many ballots which were nevertheless discounted.
If 90% of America all voted for the same 10 names, and 10% voted for someone else, then for the final seat, the remaining last name would be discounted by 90%. So, this should allow the 10% to have their top candidate get that last seat.
The role of the Senate will be to settle constitutional issues. They will also be a court to settle disputes between branches of government, and between states and states and the federal government.
The Supreme Court sort of seized this power, but the factions in power in the executive and legislative branches have supported it, because it increased the power of the federal government relative to the states. However, the constitutionality role of the Supreme Court is not in the constitution. While Congress and the President have conceded that their disputes can be settled by the Court, the states never formally agreed. This led to the civil war, in certain ways.
The problem today is that the US government is habituated to doing things it was never explicitly founded to do, so that there is no real original intent to point to. This very much does allow the Supreme Court to literally amend the Constitution without having to go through an amendment process, and has made the US Constitution into a hybrid written/unwritten constitution. This power existing with the Court is a big problem for politics.
I propose that some kind of structure be put in place where certain kinds of legal disputes are sent to the Senate to settle, or that the constitutionality of certain actions of government depend on precendent set through Senate resolution. That is, a written down "unwritten" constitution. The formal constitution is fixed and written, and hard to amend. But, the grey areas are settled clearly, in a democratic way, with a written body of law to support the jurisprudence going forward. Rather than "what judges feel is best."
The role, though simple, makes the Senate an important focal point in national consciousness about the evolution of American politics over time.
I believe this is also a separation of powers issue that Montesquieu failed to address, which is dispute resolution between powers. The Supreme Court "ended up" serving that role, and federal supremacy ended up being the answer to state-federal disputes. Neither is ideal in facilitating genuine separation, and the checks and balances could be strengthend further.

A New Federalism; Changing State Boundaries

Problem: States are idiosyncratic entities which define important features of American democracy such as electoral college representation. In spite of the federal system, state against state disputes over things like water access and air quality aren't easily settled. In spite of more federalism, where the federal government even crowds out the importances and power and wealth of states, the federal government leaves so many functions to states that things like disaster response and so forth aren't handled in an efficient, modern way.
Solution: Change the concept of states into a more purely federal model, where there is administrative uniformity between states, and there is room for changes that improve the functioning of federal system. For example, the ability of states to swap counties easily to ease administration.
Historical context: The states began in a brief existence as presumptive sovereign powers. Each state was a country. The United States was more of an alliance, though even before the states found existence as independent political units that were more than colonies, many leaders of the rebellion that accomplished this nevertheless desired a national state. Even James Madison was open to the idea of America simply being a very big Virginia, for instance. As the Constitution was ratified, political philosophers particular in the South - such as John Taylor of Caroline - began to conceive of a philosophical basis for defining American states. This group thought that political society is something that naturally emerges from society, the natural consequence of people coming together to live in the same place. Their values, norms and laws combine to become their politics. The structure they create to uphold law becomes the state. Thus, states cannot be created, they can only appear. The US federal government is created, so it is different in political nature from states, therefore should it rule people in their homes and towns, that is tyranny. Republicanism is the natural society of a people, with their culture, setting and enforcing rules.
I don't believe the organic view of the state can be justified anymore. American society due to the Pax Americana is too mobile, and everything is too influenced by national culture and politics to reasonably say that the constitutionality and legitimacy of states derive from history and the people. Indeed, the 14th amendment makes all citizens of all states into citizens of the United States - which was not formally the case previously. Whether this is or is not the tyranny Taylor of Caroline feared, it doesn't matter. There's no going back except by first going forward.
US citizens are federal citizens, so states, not possessing citizens of their own, exist wholly to serve federal citizens. This abolishes the importance of an organic nature to states.
The US is a federal state, not a confederation. That means that the states are not independent from, or equal in power to the federal government. They are decidedly subordinate.
But federalism is not unitary.
The role of a state, within a federation, in my mind, is to serve as an intermediary between the federal citizen and the national government.
I think the idea is that the federal citizens, through "democratic will", create the federal government to serve their interests. This includes limits on that government.
While a state in a federal system is not a natural political society, we can still conceive of the role that natural political societies play. They deal with norms that connect directly to cultural practices. Marriage, crime (unsocial behavior), day-to-day order (traffic lights), families (school, educating children).
Federalism says that the people do not desire organic political societies. Why not? Because they permit negative and positive norms. Southern republicanism allowed for slavery. Many societies in the world don't protect minority rights, or civil rights
The federal government, with its separation of powers and democratic elements, is meant to be the great protector of rights. So a state within a federal system is created not as an organic society, but a synthetic one which is subordinated to the rights-protecting power of the federal government.
On the other hand, the federal government is too powerful to meddle in the enforcement of norms that really do connect to culture. People might want to wall off the federal government from being involved in politics that touch the social environment directly. That is the function of states. To allow for a local democratic cultural consensus to drive the politics that touch the local social environment.
Also, states enhance the effect of a separation of powers.
I think this theory supports states which derive their structure and purpose from federal constitutional expectations. Rather than say, "a state must be republican in nature", the Constitution should prescribe the roles and duties of states. A basic framework that separates powers more explicitly, but also a few details about how elections should be conducted and so forth.
Why do this? It could settle a few issues, but the main purpose is to permit the redrawing of state borders.
The idea is that across the US you have county governments which are constitutionally structured the same way. So, they can be swapped between states easily.
In the federal constitution, you would specify adminstrative units like counties, cities and maybe even city-states. Everything follows a very simple model, which is uniform, but which is minimally defined to allow for flexibility.
Now, states can constantly rearrange. Southern Oregon can join Idaho. Austin can become its own state. Upstate New York can kick NYC (not that they would, but some states might try this).
There are many areas where this helps. First, in state adminstration and state politics (California seems too big, and broken). Second, in representation (electoral college, though that is changed in these reforms).
However, the most important area where this would help is in conjunction with the new Senate's role in settling constitutional matters. Devolution to states would be an important way for the senate to settle a constitutional argument. So, the composition of the states would matter.
The end result would be a rural America that resembles Jefferson's "Empire of liberty", where the way administrative responsibilities are divided up is somewhat uniform (of course, differences in civil law, liquor laws, licensing requirements etc.). That is, you'd see counties, towns, incorporated cities. All about the same sizes and models.
Counties have flexibility with town to county division of responsibilities, but county to state and town to state responsibilities would be nationally uniform.
Then, you'd have city states on top of this which have much more flexibility to design their governments either with councils, mayors, city managers and so forth. These city states would have unique character and could be more experimental politically.

Reforming the 14th Amendment

Problem: Groups of states that desire a change in federal policy can't get it passed because other states don't like the idea. However, these states can't enact the policy alone. For example, a national health care system.
Solution: Allow states to engage in semi-federalism, where they can cooperate together where other states are free to decline to participate.
Historical context: The 14th amendment made all state citizens into US citizens. The reason was two-fold. To end the idea of state sovereignty while promoting American nationalism, but secondly to create a legal basis which would allow the federal government to protect the rights of freed slaves on the basis of them having a relationship to the federal government as citizens. The effect, however, of this amendment, is to prevent unequal application of federal law. That means that any law or benefit that can be offered to one US citizen, must be offered equally to any US citizen if they meet the qualifications. You can't provide benefits to people only in New England, but not Texas. So, states have no way to cooperate selectively within the federal framework.
I imagine the Northeastern states setting up a health care network of some kind. The South declines to participate. However, why couldn't Congress pass a bill where the IRS and federal DHHS and NIH collaborate with a coalition of states? As long as IRS taxed Texas etc. a bit less, what would it matter? It seems like an ideal solution to many of the great political divides in America.
You could act like separate countries at times when you chose to, for certain policies, but remain united for other purposes.
Unfortunately, the 14th amendment would never permit this.
So, some reform that modifies this seems prefered. I believe the new Senate I've proposed can be the appropriate body to pass laws that permit these kinds of arrangements.
The college of state representatives, though not always in session, could have powers affecting these arrangements as well - perhaps a veto against the Senate.
Thus, there won't be a repeal of the 14th amendment or whatever similar language replaces it. Rather, exceptions of a certain nature as discussed above would be explicitly permitted through the mechanism of the Senate. It's a very specific feature: overlapping micro-semi-federations of specific purpose within the federation.

House of Representatives now proportionally appointed.
New Administrative branch with department chairs directly elected.
Senate now elected in a proportionally discounted national vote, it loses legislative power, but gains constitutionality powers as the mediator of separated branches of government (including states and state v federal).
New College of State Representatives which is not regularly convened, but can be convened to give state governments direct veto over certain constitutional issues that affect them, and a role in presidential elections if they feel a need to exercise it (if national factionalism has gone to far).
Presidential elections now more indirect, designed to require heavy consensus, with features that force an outcome regardless. Indirect selection can be vetoed by direct popular vote. This lengthens and complicates the election process, so lame duck periods are much longer, but this increases the incentive for consensus.
States adminstratively reorganized with a uniform structure including a possibility of city-states. Counties can be swapped between states, so the composition of states can be changes (I did not settle on a mechanism for deciding this).
Through the Senate's oversight, states can adhere to administrative coalitions which allow for like-minded regions to cooperate without requiring the participation of the entire nation, or a dissolution of the union.

2020.09.21 08:27 UnoDeaj05 Need help with polling function on arduino eeprom programmer

Hey all,
So a couple of you may know who Ben Eater is, for those who don't he makes youtube videos about building computers on breadboards and goes into great detail about how it all works.
Sorry if this isn't the correct place to post this, I just figured this might be the best place to ask.
Here is the datasheet for the eeprom I'm working with:
Here is the code:
#define ADDR 2 #define CLK 3 #define LATCH 4 #define WE 5 #define IO0 13 #define IO7 6 byte IO = 0; int addr = 0; void setup() { // put your setup code here, to run once: pinMode(ADDR, OUTPUT); pinMode(CLK, OUTPUT); pinMode(LATCH, OUTPUT); digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); pinMode(WE, OUTPUT); pinMode(LED_BUILTIN, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(57600); writeData(0, 3); Serial.println(IO); // SIMPLE DISPLAY FUNCTION FOR SERIAL MONITOR for (int base = 0; base <= 255; base += 16) { byte data[16]; for (int offset = 0; offset <= 15; offset += 1) { data[offset] = readData(base + offset); } char buf[80]; sprintf(buf, "%03x: %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x %02x", base, data[0], data[1], data[2], data[3], data[4], data[5], data[6], data[7], data[8], data[9], data[10], data[11], data[12], data[13], data[14], data[15]); Serial.println(buf); } } void loop() { // put your main code here, to run repeatedly: digitalWrite(LED_BUILTIN, HIGH); delay(500); digitalWrite(LED_BUILTIN, LOW); delay(500); } void setAddress(int address, boolean OE) { // PUSHES ADDRESS TO SHIFT REGISTERS addr = address; shiftOut(ADDR, CLK, MSBFIRST, (address >> 8) (OE ? 0x00 : 0x80)); shiftOut(ADDR, CLK, MSBFIRST, address); } void setPinMode(String mode) { // ALLOWS ME TO CHANGE PINMODES WITH A FUNCTION if(mode.equals("INPUT")) { for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7 ; i--) { pinMode(i, INPUT); } } else if(mode.equals("OUTPUT")) { for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7; i--) { pinMode(i, OUTPUT); } } else { Serial.println("PinMode set at invalid state"); } } void poll(byte data) { // THIS IS THE FUNCTION IN QUESTION setPinMode("INPUT"); setAddress(addr, true); latch(); while(true) { if(digitalRead(6) == data) { break; } } } byte readData(int address) { // READS THE DATA AND RETURNS A BYTE byte data = 0; digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); setPinMode("INPUT"); setAddress(address, true); latch(); for(int i = IO0; i >= IO7; i--) { data = (data << 1) + digitalRead(i); } return data; } void writeData(int address, byte data) { //WRITES THE DATA. ALSO HAVE QUESTIONS HERE IO = data; setAddress(address, false); latch(); setPinMode("OUTPUT"); for(int i = IO7; i <= IO0; i++) { digitalWrite(i, data & 1); // UNSURE AS TO WHY BITWISE 'AND' FIXES THIS FUNCTION data = data >> 1; } digitalWrite(WE, LOW); delayMicroseconds(1); // NEED TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THIS DELAY DOWN TO A MINIMUM OF 100 NANOSECONDS. digitalWrite(WE, HIGH); delayMicroseconds(1); poll(IO); //delay(10); // NEED TO FIGURE OUT AS TO WHY THIS TIMER NEEDS TO BE 10 MILISECONDS IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS FUNCTION WORK. } void latch() { // LATCHES OUTPUT FOR SHIFT REGISTERS digitalWrite(LATCH, LOW); digitalWrite(LATCH, HIGH); digitalWrite(LATCH, LOW); }
And here is a photo of the actual board itself for those interested:

Regarding the FinCEN Files recently revealed confirming what is considered by many to be a commonly-held unspoken truth, though to nag about it and intrude upon the peace of others is foolish, it is also denied by the foolish, the deceitful benefitting from it, and those who'd extend their blindness from it to others as a comfort.
FinCEN Files: All you need to know about the documents leak, published by BBC News. September 20th, 2020.

Originally posted to my Facebook account privately, also posted to my more publicly available Linkedin profile:

It's really just common knowledge at this point. I don't know how to feel about the fact that not just some rich persons of wealth born from legal endeavors proper or their forebearer's, but also international organized crime's rich persons, even terror group funds may hide their income from public eye conveniently in mostly European banks, if not an affiliate closer to them over others abroad, this today is just a widely accepted unspoken fact, to point it out an act equal to interrupting a conversation to clarify that the sky is indeed blue. We all accept as true at some point and once past the initial shock, learn to ignore it like any of civilization's other harsh truths.
The Taliban little more than religiously indoctrinated opium traffickers that were once refugees whom were indoctrinated by rich person's funding religious extremist education as the only education available to them there before unleashing them onto a country many where not even from, after expensive religious teachers taught them they were to save the world from the sins of Western civilization, to displace and murder the previous inconveniently US-aligned guys that defied a Soviet imperialist invasion alongside Rambo in Rambo 3. So, knowing how beliefs are the control mechanisms of minds, why not create your own drug dealers? So you may never be deprived of the freedom to indulge in a substance consciously as an educated person maintaining good health despite it to keep from abusing regularly that less educated, less enriched minds not enjoying the same escapes that also enabled financing that scheme more easily become destructively addicted into further destroying themselves, so thought the intelligence agencies of Pakistan and a few rich people abroad when they paid for extremist educators to be the only education granted to children in UN refugee camps.
Since crime makes bigger bucks when it forgets the old biases lingering in others after the Cold War their privateering hearts more easily abandoned. Even bigger bucks when you can trick others away from seeing that you know by playing the helpfully abandoned old symbols some however bold long ago tainted by systematic abuse and evil worse than any evil they defied, and lead yet another away from those who'd already abandoned those symbols into repeating the same. And someone's got to get they their poison, somehow, someway, if them where the fields for it be sown abandon it out of some pious sense of nobility they who finance the transport from the fields where slavery is sometimes still practiced would rather strip from the poor and the brown, and slightly brown, well they'll twist the screws a little and find someone else that'll budge since such aloof righteousness is only proper of people from economically stable countries and traditionally unperturbed education all the more enriching for not being disrupted by problems kept elsewhere. Best of all, those of they with such nobility they can keep focused on them further away and not they enabling them closer to those and sometimes indirectly funding not just deaths of people abroad, but sometimes one of those noble souls dearer to those fighting them and not they closer to those. I'm glad to see the war may be coming to an end, but it just may be the international community found it easier to grant them clemency not just for their continued violent existence the men and women that actually have to face them have been forced to deal with for far too long costing the lives of many among them, but also because they more closely resemble the guys they prefer to tolerate; Internationally operating organized crime rings enabling the trade of illicit substances then taking the money back following the economic exchange despite buying a product. If not outright inviting in and away from the places affected those people who keep themselves proper from a public perspective as decent people, whether or not some of their gains were from abusive or criminal endeavors. To hide among the many others escaping violence, and seeking to connect for the benefit of sanctioned business affairs, which need-be-said, I'd not generalize the entrepreneurs that need communicate and maintain vested interests without borders for the few that hide among them unseen for being able to look sharp, well-groomed, sane, and not enjoying anything potentially offensive or subversive.
Like oh hey, keep your eyes on those brown guys over there, never mind the occasional tons of illicit opiates we buy from them when you catch that tip of the iceberg while the majority remains unseen, often appropriately just as white despite never being clean, even when pure, tainted by blood. It's their fault, maybe that guys starting to get a little too cocky with the riches we helped him earn, so get him out of the way and we'll find someone else to ship us our vice. Conveniently their allies in sanctioned industries, in public life, are totally all over there where it is so corrupt and not among us, who knows how they get so much of it here past our vigilant entirely honest authorities, surely not one among them would twist our institutions and betray his or her fellow men in uniform for such dastardly things unlike those people, must be black magic and Satanism. Oh hey, this guy looks like an upstanding person of society, never mind all those transactions conveniently to banks over here and not there, at least he or she isn't blasphemous, opinionated, enjoys inoffensive music, and knows the only thing worth getting riled up about is who wins some ball game. Clearly, he or she is the one we should invite without suspicion, look at all of they, so uncivilized in-comparison. Obviously to anyone who pays attention it is clearly those brown people at fault and not any of our meddling, we being so upstanding leaders of morality and civilization. Oh and Lord help the poor soul who claims perhaps if the vice is to be continued despite the best efforts of people around them, despite all the pain it provokes in people away from them for the benefit of those who'd get that vice to they, then perhaps it should be legalized so the vice whatever it does to the mind may finance more constructive and enriching to society positive things that may even keep it from increased local consumption whatever the demand abroad, surely possessed by demons he who would point out it can be consumed in a less potent and natural state and is like caffeine as a traditional stimulant used during a workday in some countries, and such demonic claims clearly the best response to is to deny a people their right to chew a leaf that grows naturally, though it has been chewed for countless generations to help keep one alert throughout many chores, surely the solution to this dilemma is to seek a punching bag abroad and not seek the one who'll just find another one to import closer to home.
And you mix this with the atrocious idea of treating battles against all of society's ills as wars, and suddenly you got an excuse to do war and play the savior. And then you manipulate the popular mediums of information enabled by the internet to both promote ideas and tastes you'd like them to adopt to better paint them the enemy helpfully assisted by those among them already doing this you can promote or replace with your own, while upholding the narrative of your own sainthood and status as a sanctuary from the misery you create. When perhaps the proper path is to fortify international relationships to facilitate cooperation in combatting crime sans-borders, with required data to track a potential felon who'd escaped abroad left transparent to foreign equivalents of whatever the local authority is as they maintain an alliance, if not friendship, given how cops while not made from a template, I'd never generalize any people for whatever reason, including professions so essential towards the maintenance of rule of law I also hold dear to me however I may feel about some minor points and failures of it. But truth-be-told, a lot of cops would get along great if they could break the language barrier, if those with that particular bias among them would look past the skin and into the heart of fellow men and women in uniform born elsewhere, donning a garment that though some symbols may be the same or similar, familiar to another’s uniform, often comes emblazoned with a different flag, lettering detailing authority over a distinct jurisdiction however exotic it may be from one’s own. And only after defeating addiction by curing it locally, as well as making sure either those who profit from it whether or not they consume illicit substances either be punished or otherwise inhibited from continuing that means of ill-gotten gains at the cost of the less fortunate and more desperate directly handling illicit products, and consuming them. Though they can no longer perpetuate one of their less public investments, ultimately to seek every last accomplice embedded in many systems private and public would in my opinion be too much of an effort to realistically undertake, would if done too quickly perhaps even disrupt day-to-day life as some places lose people holding positions outwardly entirely positive to society despite whatever consequences some private acts have elsewhere. But of course, among the worst of them, surely some would need to be reeled in as examples that justice does indeed work, and is not simply a tool of power, and once this is done, then would you see the concept of pushers representing foreign interests seeking to play the same old tired game again become a thing, and more easy to single out lacking locals doing the same directly or indirectly elsewhere by being consumers of an illicit product costing humanity so much suffering unseen by them. That day a day when should one of those locally abusive escape abroad, well, there may be helpful and inviting fellow members of a global community and fellowship there, freed as you are to live their lives so long as they give back without too much being taken from them, to help you reel them back in from any point of the globe.
And then to not even be able to look us back in the eye for fear of your own shame even as you claim us shameful, and though I'd always accepted the bitter truth and since childhood attempted to keep respect, to know it is but a machine run amuck many within it are not even to blame for becoming enchained by the sins of their fathers and mothers, to dare insist I need display admiration, even adoration, of the lands that began this plight on the rest of the world and any from it, and not instead the respect of an equal voice I'd always shown before, accepting to subordinate before any tasks that need to be accomplished in exchange for payment proper to it, to a person equal to me whatever their status and not a person beneath me for needing to impose themselves as being above. However powerful and successful in-comparison, lowly, and needing to be taught an essential lesson whatever the medium of education that is dear to us of the Americas; reject anyone's claimed divine right to rule, for rule is granted by election, and by a life's merits, and how they may persuade and incentivize others to align with their goals, that here the tea was tossed into the harbor, and a coastline of colonies inspired the rest to break the shackles of monarchy to embrace a wiser, whatever mistakes it commits always learning from them, even if sometimes it reminds itself the lessons, Democracy as the proper rule over a people and land over the desires and whims of any one person or people not a majority compared to the rest. To subordinate is proper accepting consensually employment, or consenting to education beyond that one is obligatorily born into beneath a family and what society would show a child, is proper to women or whatever gender one longs for, I'd love as one also does to a parent, where in a relationship where family may come to be as those where family always was, if not lost since, is the erosion between I and you, and to submit, and be submitted to consensually and respectfully, even when passion temporarily inspires one consents to thrusting aside the illusions of decent civilization in private.
I mean, yeah, maybe I went a little too far earlier this year over things I'd begrudgingly accepted before. Sorry everyone, I think my sudden break into sobriety took away the things I'd used as crutches to help me cope with these things and many more, when like many of you I would be better off seeking better ways to escape bitter realities focusing on that I can control and not letting myself be distracted from it, nor sedated to hamper my practice of it. But I'll never close my eyes, nor cover my ears, even if I'll not disrupt the peace by running my tongue in public over commonly accepted unsavory truths, and any who'd like to make me think they are not true would need pluck my eyes from my head, or pierce my ear drum destructively, to keep me from trusting my senses. I abandoned the book imposed upon me as a child for realizing it had become but just a tool to perpetuate all this in the hands of some, against the desires of others upholding the same book, and once wished to charge right into confronting this and what other old books did incite alongside other men and women whom believed they would see an end to it and a safety from it back home for the struggle, but was perhaps mercifully denied the chance whatever I may have learned. A secular book just as fictional as those traditional works of literature upheld as fact by many taught me how I would have possibly only enabled what I thought my enemy; Ignorance, religious extremism, abusive men and women who'd go beyond rivalrous sportsmanship to destroy and maim and eat the future for the now, be it for profit, even good of those closer to they, or simply for appalling abhorrent disgusting sadism that came to infest their soul for any they suffered, or any frustrations not dealt with better. And though I had been thinking myself part of the solution, to realize perhaps there is no solution but one can keep their mind and body free from perpetuating it, to think of things as simple as good and bad, to be solved forever more by a solution. What is this but the Final Solution of the Third Reich? What is this but to fall as deceived as a poor refugee child in a United Nations camp into the belief that the solution is to cleanse the habits and tastes of others into becoming a copy of one's self, and not even a mirror, for people unlike us often mirror us better revealing to ourselves things we'd not see were it not for them. And a woman once fortified my belief I could at a time desperation had begun to creep in, to solidify my defiance against it.
And endorphins and hope they accompanied that released in response to her, still could not erode entirely the truths a source of cortisol in my mind had also taught me as a wise albeit harsh guardian among its lands. Besides it amuses me so that whatever they will always be of grander power than us, we may beat them as a mostly Catholic nation rivaling the bordering One Nation Under God at Christianity by loving thy neighbor and contemplating our own sin prior to casting any stones, as some of their failure to do so does so have them, many a Christian among them, reaching for the stones to pile a wall, yet the truth behind it is criminals on both sides of the border allowed to reign more freely on this side. Though such talk is more befitting of a satire like Idiocracy, in a better mood humorous, but truly, for the UN to think itself a pious savior of upmost good against the world's ills, and not a representative of all the world's peoples as well as the ills they can overcome themselves with assistance and respect as equals, it to become its UNdoing, and I'd always preferred another 2 letter acronym that begins with U and properly has often been the sole reason the second one has been able to accomplish anything to the extent it has, the US, whatever evil it hast indeed brought into the world has vanquished far worse evils in the Soviet Union, Third Reich Germany, Imperial Japan, and now struggles against religious extremism unable to accurately hold steady its sight upon such an insidious and deceitful foe. For truth be told, it is always Us against them, I against you, this is the basis of peace when one respects the golden rule, to do onto others as one would wish done onto them, bar few exceptions when others ask of one to be done to them that one wouldn't enjoy done to one. And when one's defense of self-liberty remains untainted from hypocrisy, to not fall into libertine abusive intruding on another's liberty against their rightful will to decide what be done to their body and what they wish to believe. To also be broken when another has done to others or to one that one did not wish for nor benefitted from, without that transgression having a lawful basis as a breaking to punish a prior aggression that broke the golden rule, so that the lawless rupture may end, an ideal I hold however UNlike it may be to today in some places, where instead law has been engineered so that the rupture never ends, and instead spirals into itself benefiting others with a boot stomping upon the face of mankind, forever. To think otherwise, to think oneself and only those like one righteous of being capable of declaring what is undeniable good and evil concerning the lifestyles of others, and to think oneself justified to impart a solution that is not inspiration, education, and incentives, is to turn your next step the first bumbling stumble before tripping down a long painful staircase that shall be our undoing.
'And the Un UnNazied the world, forever!'

And no wonder it be revealed extraterrestrials are concerned of us and what we may bring extended to the stars, for perhaps the worst being to have wielded intelligence and language, is the creature with no physical weapons of its own necessitating the twisting of uttered emotion turned artificial constructs and engineered organized sounds to more intimately describe that guttural primal feeling or hide it behind others deceitfully, but before deception it had been a tool to better organize the weapons we'd derive from the environment, and teach this to others, or represent how adventurous it felt with natural dyes upon a cave wall. Still a creature whose grandest weapon is a weapon it always carries but is never visible is a creature with the capacity to destroy reality itself as vast as its same capacity to increasingly better define and teach that reality to others, translated to their own. Information’s technology enabling increased deceit just as it allows increased truth by transparency and inter-connectivity without rejecting any voice so long as it remains respectful however discomforting the message, and worse, the possibility to craft false symbols and imagery masquerading as representations and proof of true acts or crimes committed, or to paint another the actor behind it, as we consider entering an age now that deepfakes are a reality. As we consider the implications of the Cambridge Analytica attempt to subvert public opinion by controlling and limiting information and psychologically mass-profiling people predisposed to being susceptible to this, and the deepfakes that most famously were made of celebrities whom were properly outraged upon discovering how their likeness was united with a pornographic actors sexual act to create the illusion that the celebrity was present in the sexual act committed and documented, prior to being edited into not presentation, but representation of a falsehood disfiguring reality and defaming in a disgustingly lowly manner abusive of technology’s potential wonders another person’s public presence through crafting of false evidence against their word or true past. Perhaps velociraptors with claw always visible, incapable of hiding their nature, even in coitus needing to take care weapon not bleed excessively a lover, would have been a more honest and just civilization, if honesty, justice, and morality are anything beyond just fabrications of the ape, and are indeed the basis for organized civilization saving us from the cruel natural law where they do not exist and have no place. Perhaps should this lead to us never escaping this atmosphere, the octopus shall build better societies since deception is natural to it, enabled by every physical feature to twist color and form so malleable and obfuscate its own appearance with the sudden release of a dark cloud to better escape from unwanted intrusion, or make of that cloud a more off-putting scare to those undesired than any one's own form could provide. Whether they come to vocalize expressions, or that language be developed into a tool from their natural capacities to manipulate their skins color and a styling of the ink they naturally produce, perhaps capable of crafting a language bereft of any possible abusive use for deception, or deceitful to an extent even the man or woman ape thinks itself to be could not fathom. Either an extension of weapons evolution gifted them, or a necessary de-escalation to form the basis of civilization by crafting a language so honest where ape lacking weapons naturally given found his tongue to be as sharp as the sword and ape's ingenuity and technologies enabled increased deception, as it did closer adherence to truth and analysis by offering many and more sources and variables previously unseen to be deciphered, accepted and rejected where found true or false, and often this privilege denied to others so they may not escape deceit from where it is already eschewed.
It has always been a regret that even when finding myself among fellow fans of pulpy science fiction as is Starship Troopers, most who enjoy the film as I do overlook the grandest humor of a film seemingly Fascist propaganda made by a director who personally suffered beneath oppressive rule as a child witnessing the take-over of his society by the invasive Third Reich, who nearly lost parents to Allied bombing meant to strike at their headquarters in The Hague, and the Federation's grey uniform and demeanor, sometimes upbeat and loyally dismissive of any doubt to the point of being uncanny, a clear tongue-in cheek sarcastic joke as an entire film made to be even possibly seen from within a darker universe not our own, a clear propaganda film for a Fascist regime like much of the propaganda he was exposed to as a child and youth. With breaks within it such as an accompanying reporter to a failed slaughter of an initial raid upon a bug planet so arrogantly expecting to film the Federation's easy triumph, to show where such propaganda and violent media breaks from reality as many so shockingly and terribly discover, expecting otherwise, or unexpecting of any such things to ever interrupt their lives until they do. Since complexity of language allows not only deception one believes to be good and representing a good choice, but also for complex, albeit a little dry, humor over dark matters.

And to clarify, yes, a point of the previous paragraph musing over what civilizations a predatory clawed pack hunter may have crafted is indeed a defense of open carry, but not to all establishments and institutions by any person of age, and not of any weapon. A defense of right to own weapons so long as one is not criminally insane, even if they may suffer from underlying insanity restrained by self-efforts and potential assistance from falling to depraved criminal insanity, so long as one is of age deemed adulthood following adolescent physical development and its hormonal shifts often unpredictably affecting personality, and one does not threaten with weapons, maintaining the presence of it self-defensive in posture and display, never directing in mock nor offense the appearance of putting another beneath the threat of being damaged a victim lacking any offense of their own to bring them beneath a sight designating the path of a fire-arm's muzzle. Not to abuse the right to claim any place proper to carry a weapon, visibly or beneath another garment aside from a sheathe. Since some establishments are tailored to consumption of substances that may tamper with thought, even diminish it, in a manner they wouldn't beneath revision of a sober mind, while it can be enjoyable in the right establishments and proper in private with those consenting, it may exaggerate feelings and the same fall of inhibitions defining conduct and guiding a person may lead them into more easily committing a violent act without hesitation that my lead them to think otherwise, or allow intervention before it need-be forceful and lawfully punishing of a potential criminal act avoided, since an emotional outburst made sloppy by substance use, or abuse, may not truly reveal the quality of a person's motives behind it or behind not enacting it, though for this to be regular, use to become abuse and addicting lacking better outlets and activities more enriching, and for upon confrontation of any error despite claims of sorrow and guilt no change be acted, it truly does reveal all about a person. And of these establishments and communal social events where substance use is expected and the event tailored it, there only those sober of them as keepers of the peace should be allowed such tools. Just like the opposite holds true in places of academic formation where such substance use obstructing rational thought is destructive as any weapon, though other mind-altering substances may assist sharp analysis and even conscious attentive adherence to reason, where only those who with their presence ideally keep the rest free from crime and abuse, who also wield these tools regularly as representatives of authority elsewhere as part of their uniformed public service clearly identifying them as such. Though a right to self-defense is a human right as is the means to it, to become a member of society and civilization is to surrender the monopolized right to force to the state that defends those rights and your sovereignty shared among others, but the laws and codices dictating this are made by the same symbols representing words that can deceive one into the opposite entirely, or can be disfigured by not being learnt and comprehended entirely, and so, one needs to also be capable of keeping one's body and that of those around them safe from harm and abuse, but should never wish for the chance to play a hero. And should not seek to wield tools that match and outdo, nor resemble too close in likeness, any utilized by authorities and their various institutions which ideally keep one from ever having to consider utilizing these tools to any end beyond sport. Since a civilian should in an ideal world at best, or perhaps better said worst, find themselves potentially faced with a violent altercation against another civilian turned criminal armed only with that similar to anything within a lawful citizen’s reach and right to possess, any potential deviation or disfigurement of law enforcement and military institutions for a motive contradicting their original intent as vanguards of societal well-being and just rule of law to be cast aside for now, as I've tired of considering them and wish to hope I may enjoy more enriching and educating creative and intellectual pursuits. Even if I need submit to lending body to manual labors and defense of others lawfully to better enable them. And I believe in escalation of force as if it were a cosmic truth and divine mandate, attempting to adhere to it closer than many a Christian does to the 10 Commandments, to respond to harsh word with harsh word, threat with threat, to keep threats as promises of what I will do in self-defense, and never declarations of attack, and may I never experience having to rise beyond the few bodily altercates I’ve briefly been faced with throughout my life, with no weapons justified in my own hand to my defense since none have been leveled at me up till now. Also, to consider and never forget that this is cast aside to accept discipline should I commit an error when dealing with authorities overseeing and necessary to maintain rule of law. Though come a potential future we may upon entering adulthood all share the mantle of responsibility as authority and everyone responsible to respectfully revise each other and maintain respect of even those vastly different also revising them. Checks and balances of government’s three major divisions, extended to all of us as participants and upholders.

And where does a bisexual man, Atheist Mexican deported from the United States just shy of graduating high school near a decade ago, since incorporated after some struggles to the Mexican educational system, a male Feminist promoting women's rights and men's self-revision of how even when thinking themselves respectful and considerate sometimes we fail to lacking a woman's perspective, who rejects to lick the boot when it is worn beneath the banner of globalized LGBTQ wishing I be more jovial and gay, when I prefer women and rarely a man, enjoy my oft-grim serious demeanor always analytical and critical yet respectful, increasingly so as more time passes since the last time I sedated myself from what such clear vision reveals, who defends right to bear arms, and self-defense, but who does not believe that means right to any arms, nor to wield them anywhere, a man who rejects embracing a more enticing fantasy through religion over cruel reality whatever it becomes of me, knowing it'll be finite and I've enjoyed much, and may enjoy more deserving the right to earn it, preferring fantasy as the fiction that often reflects reality or temporarily offers a respite from its stresses to better return to them rested, where does such a man belong? A fellow Atheist woman, a fellow lover of literature, one inspired me to thinking I'd find another like her closer, and foolishly I did not think to take seriously there is none like her, now my dearly cherished masculinity, though to be honest to oneself civilizations comforts have also granted me softened femineity, yet perhaps not enough of the harder truths made clearer to the feminine which often causes them to seek softer things and enjoy softer presences compared to more masculine outlooks. Of masculine and feminine traits, I believe them to be independent from gender, naturally more-so in one than the other, a natural life naturally cultivating one over the other in each, but society and civilization are not natural, and comforts born of civilization's excesses where they may be enjoyed and subordination to the cosmic truths of knowledge however harsh as well as the authorities who justly or unjustly wield them to either assist us to rise alongside them, or stamp upon us, do cause even men as well as women to become more feminine, and women do sometimes when not inhibited from it find themselves better enabled and empowered by this demanded submission men might not find so naturally inviting.
Man's natural place to take, to stalk and prowl and steal the nourishment of another life, to defend this from being taken from them, till they are too old or have become too injured by accident or a wound imparted in the hunt or defense of self and home and ultimately succumb to a final opportunistic or fortunate victor to chance upon them when previously their victory would not have been so likely, a natural death as it is today called, rarely enjoyed by any natural man prior to the beginnings of civilization. If not to take, when possible it is also man’s place to forage for it among the places largely unknown to most natural women prior to civilization and knowledge freeing us from natural roles, and making of this curious endeavor to explore those same places just as inviting to any woman as it is to any man. Natural woman's place, to nourish, to cultivate what man would sow within her as a vessel, till if a man to be someday himself should grow that child is ready for the lessons a natural man may teach him that a natural woman could not help him comprehend entirely, though she would have sought to keep him from the most brutal truths of it before being ready to defend her and himself, to heal the wounds imparted facing that the effort was meant to keep away from ever harming her, to defend the children and keep the home free from pest and predator when man is not about, to forage closer to home and keep the findings of man and woman fresh and safe from rot or pest. To, should the place become inhospitable to both, and not just one or the other, accompany man alongside others to seek a new home and ensure the journey does not fall to depravity lacking any tribal structure forming the atomic principles of later civilization from loneliness and desperation, as she too would face trials usually faced only by natural man in these journeys. To keep man from becoming too harsh facing brutal truths he'd rather keep from her by offering him affection, yet just as likely too often has this affection been abusively taken and not given, since time immemorial. Blessed be those who may find love, and to maneuver the journey that is intimacy before any words to describe what another inspires ever-more clearly and vividly painting a picture one holds within, perhaps would not have been impossible, only impossible for me to comprehend given the same language natural man and woman lacked also enables us to deceive and lie and use these same words to describe just as eloquently something not felt so cunningly, to whatever end, if not simply a proper rejection of love as anything to be treasured and intimacy as something to be numbered and trophied, enjoyed as a statistic and not to be entirely given into complete and mutual trusting enjoyment of each act shared represented by that number, however small or large. Women then lacking option and now should she choose to often destined to suffer and undergo the battle and perils that was childbirth and is childbirth, yet more-so a danger prior to the advent of increased advances in medicine sciences throughout the ages, before we'd had walls about us and many more beyond those walls to defend a women heavy with child, in throes of pain giving life in a posture so defenseless and immobile, from attracting an opportunist predator hearing those screams as nothing less than a mouthwatering dinner bell ringing. And the Vikings of the Northern-most European countries sharing similarities with the Celts, and the Nordics, caught somewhere between savage nature and civilized society, perhaps properly considered in their chosen fantasy that the walls of Valhalla were only to be enjoyed by men who died in combat, and women who died in childbirth. If she'd not die fighting alongside the men whom despite nature granting usually more strength, allowed her and trained her into becoming just as adept at martial conquest over tribes that would rather submit her as beneath them. Perhaps the origins in cold environments, to embrace either lover, or guardian dog, or lover and the children they bore together in the shelter when not capable of crafting a lasting fire, coming to be a survival necessity, and not allowing a man to forget the importance of woman lest he suffer too many a cold night to weaken his strength and vitality.

And now of my masculinity I'll cherish till death, to never disfigure in physicality though training may grow any aspect, wishing to possess and be a mind within the body I was naturally born into until its eventual natural death, and never wishing to become immortal, for that too easily would fall into robbing the cradle to extend a youth and deprive it of others, still, this masculinity as a man who loves being male the sentiment has come to conflict with society preferring only others cherish this trait, since I'd not submitted to its whims nor erosion of it even if I’d allowed myself to erode it by distraction from harsh natural law still underlying ape’s belief in itself as man or woman of civilization. Not enjoying the offers and allowing myself to be distracted from hard efforts to earn what she did rejecting such distraction, so it turns toxic masculinity I'll not cleave surgically amputated from myself but seek to heal and cleanse of toxins, to accept claims of my intrusion upon her femineity as fellow bisexual has come to prefer another woman's embrace over any respite I may offer from her sorrows that I years ago provided, no longer having given her the same tranquility as distraction from much of what we'd both opposed had led to not noticing how I'd become abusive. That these claims were not a frivolous thoughtless dismissal by a woman rejecting any contemplation of another's frustration, to accept it to hold truth should I desire to better wield and grow my masculinity or if I desire to sustain any hopes to possibly be invited to intrude upon her again, and not have it be delusion and false for not undertaking the efforts such hope was meant to inspire.

Disclaimer: This is my editing for the last 1-2 weeks, so there could be some misunderstandings and exaggerations, especially because many of these convos are from 'spec channel', so please don't take it 100% fact-wise. I share this summary to help survive this patient game and spread good spirits of IOTA.

I think chrysalis will bring a nice pamp
people will see how well the protocol works through a nice new wallet
we'll have a suite of libraries for people to build with
new exchanges
maybe not to the same extent as coordicide but it'll increase our market rank significantly, imo

As soon as the majority of tokens are bought for actual use, we can speak of proper valuations. Until then we will have speculation based valuation.
In IOTA you don't even have sheets. You just talk to each other and whenever you see a conflict you ask a few other people in the room if they saw the conflict in the same order as you.

IOTA Identity does the same using standards. That's always the difference between IOTA and others**. We are not a specific DLT that does one thing, we are a platform that can do it all (Well most of it).**

as I said earlier I think its an interesting idea to increase trust in payments that need fast confirmations
but if you don't have finality then it definitely doesn't work
I just say that it doesn't work without a concept of finality
and that's usually the hard part
in distributed consensus
Hans Moog [IF]어제 오전 6:09
and if you have a permissioned group of coordinators then you can just run hashgraph
and an open and permissionless system is hard because you usually never reach true finality
but only probabilistic finality

the trilemma by definition only applies to blockchain
The trilemma is bullshit. The more decentralized the network is the more secure is it because you have more redundancy and its harder to corrupt a sufficient amount of validators. And since the answer to scalability is sharding, more validators also means easier sharding and therefore better scalability.

Sissors오늘 오후 5:17
why a few months? You want to have them finalized before revealing them?
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:34
Writing specs that are concise enough to leave no open questions takes time and people are pretty busy + things are also still being optimized. While you implement and design data structures, you suddenly realize that some things can be solved in a much more efficient way than initially envisioned. We are for example thinking about increasing the number of other messages a message can reference as the tip selection has become orders of magnitude more efficient. This solves the last "problematic" attack vector of blowballs where an attacker tries to inflate the number of available tips. This change also massively decreases things like confirmation times. We are also getting rid of the nested value tangle and replace it with the "approval reset switch" that we discussed a few days ago so we only have 1 tangle in a single layer that contains everything. This will not only lead to a better perception of things like confirmation confidence as even data messages are contributing to the approval of value transfers but it also makes a lot of algorithms much simpler that would otherwise have to take the separation of the layers into account. If we would have tried to spec the state before these optimizations then this would have essentially been a lot of wasted time. The same goes for mana - while we implement the first version of it we expect a few interesting insights not only into how it behaves but how it can be optimized regarding its implementation. Once we feel confident that aspects are more or less final we will write concise specs but for now, the focus is on optimizations and learning from the real-world implementation.****(수정됨)

Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:48
There are internal specs for pretty much everything and of course, you need them to implement stuff but internal specs and public specs are two different things as internal specs sometimes also name a few different "options" how to do things whereas public specs are usually very concise and leave very little room for discussions.****(수정됨)
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:50
It's just different scopes - just look at the little mana document that we have in goshimmer. Everybody who internally works on goshimmer knows that "access mana" controls the influence on rate control and your throughput in the network while "consensus mana" controls the influence in voting
Hans Moog [IF]오늘 오후 6:53
It's two different aspects that are not necessarily related and the fact that we have 2 mana vectors totally confused cpt. WTF to a degree where he felt like he needs to write another article where he again tells everybody that he doesn't understand shit
Ideally, public specs wouldn't leave these kinds of questions open so people don't get confused

David Sønstebø오늘 오전 5:43
u/Chris Mueller A lot do, but more excitingly, most no longer do. I.E. IOTA is being adopted organically by major players. One of the biggest service providers in Germany just told us casually in a call last week that they had 'over 80 entities' inquiring about IOTA. This is what we've been fighting for. This was an off-the-cuff comment, but truly made me more content with my time and energy investment over the past 5 years than almost any other IOTA related news.
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 5:44
I don't want IF to become the 'hub' that all entities go through, that would defeat IOTA's purpose. The fact that there's such a demand for IOTA in the industry, without us even being aware, is the epitome of success for me
sexypotato오늘 오전 5:45
I think many of us underestimate the Trojan horse IOTA is using with a data protocol. With this.. the IOTA token has several X more chances of being adopted than all other coins out there
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 5:46
u/Chris Mueller Germany is definitely 'more pronounced' so to speak. IIRC IOTA is the most searched crypto tech in all of Germany. However, this is echoing the 'trend' we see across other countries (including my own) that we have been very active in... Of course, I can't divulge details, but let's just say that the demand is hard to keep up with from an organization perspective
Chris Mueller오늘 오전 5:48
u/David Sønstebø I see - are these companies who want to start from scratch or has the space matured to such a degree that you can build upon knowledge on their side?(수정됨)
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 5:53
u/Chris Muelle****r I'd say 50/50. I know that isn't a particularly satisfying answer to your question, but... it's just reality. Virtually all relevant companies have dipped their toes into 'BLOCKCHAIN WILL CHANGE THE WORLD' by now, but the technical understanding is lacking across the board, and when it comes to differentiating "Tangle vs Blockchain", often you might as well ask people to differentiate between interpretations of Quantum Mechanics
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 5:54
Just a quote on that
"Bitwise's study in 2019 claimed that 95% of volume on unregulated exchanges was fake. Chainalysis' new study follows a report by crypto index fund provider Bitwise Asset Management claiming that as much as 95% of volume on unregulated exchanges appears to be fake or non-economic in nature"
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 6:09
I'll ensure that a Board AMA happens by end of Oct ; )
Octo오늘 오전 6:12
David, do you firmly believe in another bull market?
David Sønstebø오늘 오전 6:13
u/Octo As you know, I'm probably the most prominent anti-spec people in crypto's history, so I am not sure if I'm the right guy to ask. All that being said: Yes, I do. There's too many billions of dollars invested and circulating the cryptosphere on a daily basis for the 'overall market' to not have more bull runs. How IOTA is positioned in those bullruns is of course a whole 'nother topic
Personally, I keep 95%+ of my wealth in IOTA. That's the strongest sentiment I can express

2020.09.21 04:14 NealKenneth The Beatles are much, more more than a "boy band" like One Direction or The Backstreet Boys

An unpopular opinion

A few days ago, we had a big post blow up where people were asked to post their unpopular opinions about music. It was a cool post, and there were a lot of interesting opinions thrown out there. But there was one "opinion" in particular that deserves a thorough debunking.
The comment I'm debunking said that The Beatles were "nothing more than the Nsync, New Kids on the Block, or One Direction of their era."
Now, there's nothing wrong with disliking The Beatles or thinking they're boring or overrated or that they have bad voices etc. Those are all opinions. But this comment crosses a line, because this particular "opinion" is not really an opinion. To say they're "nothing more than [a boy band]" is a statement of fact. "Boy band" is not a subjective term, it is a clear, definable phenomena and the accusation can thus be proven or disproven.

So were The Beatles a boy band like Nsync or One Direction...yes or no?

The answer is, objectively, factually: No, absolutely not. The Beatles were much, much more than a boy band.
To make a comparison:
This comment about The Beatles is wrong for the same reason. The Beatles are not a boy band - they don't fit the definition of that word - and that is a FACT (not an opinion.)
Let's list some important differences between The Beatles and a boy band.

The Beatles are popular with both guys AND girls (not just girls)

Sure, some guys are into The Backstreet Boys. Some. But I struggle to think of any boy band that has succeeded with guys as well as girls, except in an ironic sense (like making memes.)
The Beatles were sorta similar to a boy band at first, in that during their initial breakthrough they had a huge amount of female fans. But let's not let history get blurry here. The Beatles also had huge numbers of male fans right away. For example, famously The Beatles bowl cut took over as a look for boys, and during the mid-60s there was an explosion of guys getting together to try and be the next big band.
Watch new programs or read articles from that time, and you'll get a ton of guys talking about why they're fans. Watch any of their concert footage and, yes, the camera will focus on the screaming girls but back there out-of-focus behind them is also a ton of boys.
This is not what happens with a boy band. For a boy band, the audience is nearly all girls, except for maybe one or two of their biggest hits. So unlike a boy band, The Beatles seem to have a widespread appeal. I would be surprised if the ratio swung strongly away from 50/50.

The Beatles have vastly outlasted their contemporary competitors, many of whom were boy bands

The Monkees, for example, were a boy band for boomers.
The Monkees actually outsold The Beatles for a year or two during the sixties as well, so they were very serious competition. Teen idols like David Cassidey of The Partridge Family had girls swooning all across the country too. In fact there were dozens of boy bands and teen idols during the sixties, who were all massively successful at that time, but now are reduced to (at best) one or two memorable hits.
If The Beatles were "nothing more than [a boy band]" then why have those bands faded away, while The Beatles live on?

The Beatles wrote their own songs, and played them too

Tbh this fact, on its own, is probably enough to disqualify them from being called a boy band.
The songs for boy bands are almost always written by producers/the studio/the label etc. The boys in the typical boy band are more like session singers, there to deliver the product with the help of session musicians. The Beatles were not like that at all. They used session musicians very sparingly, they sang their own songs, and never once did they have someone write a song for them.
So, at a fundamental level, The Beatles do not fit the formula for a boy band.

The Beatles did not dance

Another common trait of boy bands is that they dance, which is easier when you're not playing an instrument. But since The Beatles played instruments, they couldn't fall back on dance routines to catch the eyes of the girls in the audience. They had to get by on their sound.
To be fair - not all boy bands dance. But a vast majority do, so it's still worth noting.

The Beatles were not manufactured in the slightest

The Beatles chose each other one by one. It was not some studio or manager bringing together talented guys.
The Beatles were striking out blind, and little did they know that they were creating the formula. At the time, their was no such thing as a boy band. In fact boy bands follow a formula that is (in part) based upon what The Beatles did. So when you talk about a "boy band" The Beatles don't fit the mold, they are the mold.

The Beatles had the respect of the biggest names of their time

The Beatles had insanely talented musicians at their beck and call.
And it wasn't about money. Big names wanted to work with The Beatles because talent recognizes talent.
And they were on the next level of talent. You don't get into friendly feuds with both Bob Dylan and Brian Wilson at the same without serious talent, but The Beatles did that like they were taking out the laundry. So to fit the boy band theory, we'd expect to see similar things today - something like One Direction influencing back and forth with Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala too.
But it just doesn't happen.

The Beatles influenced (and still influence) artists playing music way outside their genre and generation

You don't get to 3,000 covers of Yesterday without touching jazz, classical, rap, hip hop, every type of artist. And even in their time, The Beatles appearing on Ed Sullivan kick-started the careers of dozens of household names.
They released the #1 best-selling album of the 2000s, and they still get twenty-three million listeners monthly on Spotify, as a band that hasn't released a new song in fifty years. Let that sink in. For reference:
But it's not just listeners, it's also the stars. Billie Eilish has covered The Beatles. Drake has a Beatles tattoo.
How many Millenials and Zoomers do you think are out there covering New Kids on The Block, or getting tattoos of Nsync? The Beatles are still inspiring artists today.

After The Beatles broke up, their solo careers continued to be notable and newsworthy

John, Paul, George and Ringo all had multiple number one hits as solo artists. Paul McCartney has a song with 700 million streams that he released in 2015, over forty years after the breakup. If he's just a guy from some boomer boy band, how the hell is that possible?
The closest thing to long-term success from a "boy band" is Justin Timberlake. But even then, Justin is just one guy - not every single person in the band.
You can even take this in a dark direction. The Beatles had multiple assassination attempts, and Lennon actually died to one ten years after the breakup. That's not normal for a boy band. There's clearly more to the story.

The Beatles broke so much new ground that many of their accomplishments are overlooked

Let's look at George Harrison.
George Harrison organized the first-ever charity/benefit concert The Concert for Bangladesh, which set off a big trend, leading to things like LIVE AID. He was also essentially single-handedly responsible for exposing the western world to Indian music. He also personally financed the film The Life of Brian, which is a cult classic and considered one of the funniest films of all time.
All of these things are massive achievements that would normally define an artist's career. But because Harrison is a Beatle, they're like an afterthought.
So looking at all their it really reasonable to say they were "nothing more than the Nsync, New Kids on the Block, or One Direction of their era"?
It doesn't fit the formula. I like Justin Timberlake a lot, but I don't see him out there setting off decades-long trends like it's nothing. In fact, I struggle to think of even one achievement by a member of a boy band that is even comparable to The Beatles afterthought achievements.

Even now, it is near-impossible to think of another band that could be considered the best of all time

The easiest way to debunk all this is to ask a simple question.
Okay, so if The Beatles are just another One Direction, or Nsync or whatever...then who could be considered the best band of all time? On the original comment, someone asked this question, to which the commenter responded:
So, a grand total of three names are named.
And all three of those names are highly debatable:
But let's say it was true. Let's say we agreed on all three, and The Beatles are only the #4 best act of all time.
Let's say that they're #4, and that you can count all the better options on one hand...well then it's still pretty silly to say The Beatles are "nothing more than [a boy band.]" At worst, they would still be in the top five best bands of all time.

The Beatles are much, much more than a "boy band"

In conclusion, it is utterly ridiculous to put out the theory that The Beatles are just some generation's boy band, and it is easy to debunk. I could have gone on for pages and pages. It is not an "unpopular opinion" because it is not subjective, actually it is an objective claim that is factually, objectively false.
If you want the TL;DR version here it is:
So statistically, it is simply impossible to look at the data and conclude that The Beatles are a boy band fad that was born and will die with the middle/high/college schoolgirls of the Boomer generation. That theory does not fit the data. If anything, the evidence is increasing that The Beatles have entered some sort of Beethoven/Bach bubble that indicates they'll still be listened to hundreds of years from now. They are displaying a monumental level of staying power, the sort of talent that comes along only once every ten years or so at a minimum.
And again, that doesn't mean you have to like them.
Please do not seek out the comment I'm talking about, there are plenty of people who say stuff like this and it wouldn't be fair to pile on and blame it all on some random person. My goal with this post is not to respond to just one comment, but to debunk this entire idea. The idea that The Beatles are "nothing more than [a boy band]" is one of the most common criticisms of the band, and a debunking was long overdue.

Article Introduction
The following article describes the easiest way to obtain easy, secure, and efficient mobile phone number registration & sign-in using the AppGallery Auth service.
AppGallery Auth Service Introduction
AppGallery Connect provides a cloud-based auth service and SDKs to help you quickly build a secure and reliable user authentication system for your apps to verify user identity.
The AppGallery Connect auth service supports multiple authentication methods and is seamlessly integrated with other Serverless services to help you secure user data based on simple rules that you have defined.
In this article, we will cover just the mobile number authentication method in Android.
Integrating the Auth Service SDK
Before start using the AppGallery Auth Service, we must first integrate the Auth Service SDK by following the steps below :
Step 1:
Create an app in AppGallery Connect and integrate the AppGallery Connect SDK into your app. For details, please refer to AppGallery Connect Service Getting Started.
Step 2:
Add the Auth Service dependencies in the build.gradle file in the app directory (usually app/build.gradle).

2020.09.21 03:25 Jason_SYD MBA hiring demand recovers to pre-pandemic levels
MBA graduates can feel less gloomy about their employment prospects after a survey of recruiters indicated that demand had returned almost to pre-pandemic levels. The number of consultancies, banks and large technology groups, the mainstay of MBA employment, saying they planned to hire MBA graduates this year fell from 92 per cent of 712 companies in a survey conducted before March, to 77 per cent by July. However, in the most recent update to the figures, which are compiled by the Graduate Management Admission Council, the administrator for business school entrance exams, 90 per cent said they would be hiring MBA graduates next year. At the same time, only 8 per cent of respondents said they were rescinding job offers to MBA students graduating in 2020, although 32 per cent said start dates for these new hires had been delayed. The vast majority of those that hired MBAs this year said they would honour salary levels offered before the pandemic took hold. However, pay for those employed in 2021 is likely to be lower, according to the survey responses. The median salary offered to MBA degree holders in 2019 was $115,000, according to the GMAC survey. That figure fell to $105,000 in the most recent survey.
The return on an MBA is still higher than all other business masters degrees, however. GMAC added that it was considerably higher than the $65,000 median offered to graduates with a bachelor’s qualification in business. The pandemic has done little to undermine the feeling among those hiring MBA graduates that they need to pay a premium for their skills. In data compiled by GMAC up to March this year, 90 per cent of respondents said they were either highly confident or confident in graduate business schools’ ability to prepare students to be successful in their organisation. This dipped only slightly, to 87 per cent, in the second survey. Sangeet Chowfla, president and chief executive of GMAC, said: “[Business] school classrooms have long been preparing MBA students for a dynamic and often uncertain environment. Employers place a premium on that.” The top three reasons the survey respondents gave for confidence in business school graduates were their strategic thinking, communication skills and versatility. “Candidates with graduate management education tend to have greater ability to analyse problems, define strategies and communicate with peers and superiors,” one recruiter from a Fortune 100 technology company was quoted as saying by GMAC’s research team.
